1934 Hermann Schmitz founded the company in Germany in the city of Siegen (NRW) in the sector of fire extinguishers.

1961 Wolfgang Schmitz joins his father‘s business operation.

1964 The first equipment vehicles for hazardous goods (GWG‘s) are being built.

1974 The Schmitz Fire Brigade & Environmental Technology GmbH moves into own buildings in Siegen.

1986 The company moves into its own new headquarters – a purpose built factory to Wilnsdorf (near Siegen).

1989 Dirk Schmitz joins the company.

1994 A subsidiary company is founded in Luckenwalde (near Berlin). Here, among other things, the revolutionary KTLF-Futura are being produced.

1995 The unique and patented Compressed Air Foam extinguishing system One Seven® is developed and produced by Dirk Schmitz.

1997 Dirk Schmitz pushes the export business and is a pioneer on the China market.

2002 Dirk Schmitz takes over the Schmitz Fire Brigade and Environmental Technology GmbH in Wilnsdorf and the subsidiary One Seven® in Luckenwalde.

2004 The French company Gimaex acquires a stake in the company.

2018 Dirk Schmitz founds the company Schmitz Fire & Rescue GmbH in Farnstädt with a new and own production.
