Schmitz takes over the insolvent Meinicke Fahrzeugservice GmbH in Farnstädt (Eisleben)

24.08.18

Hermann Schmitz GmbH, based in Wilnsdorf near Siegen, will take over the business operations of Meinicke Fahrzeugservice GmbH on 1 September 2018, including all equipment and employees. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

Schmitz is thus making good on its promises. Quote from the press release from April this year: "We have decided, under the traditional brand "Schmitz", to offer special fire fighting vehicles in Germany and internationally again in the future. With a strong Chinese partner, Xuzhou Handler Special Vehicles Ltd., we will be launching 2018 special vehicles (GW-G, RW, ELW) from our own production (Made in Germany) on the market this year".

Dirk Schmitz as Managing Director will push the production of GW-G, RW, ELW and special tank fire-fighting vehicles at the Farnstädt location and thus bring the well-known Schmitz brand back to Germany. The entire standard vehicle portfolio of the former Meinicke GmbH may also be added to the supplier profile.

Schmitz back in Germany

20.03.18

Mr. Dirk Schmitz, Managing Director of the family business Hermann Schmitz GmbH, shareholder of Gimaex International SAS and former Managing Director of Gimaex GmbH in Wilnsdorf explains:

"We, that is my family and I, have decided to offer special fire fighting vehicles in Germany and internationally again under the traditional brand "SCHMITZ".
With a strong Chinese partner, we will launch 2018 special vehicles (GW-G, RW, ELW) from our own production (Made in Germany) on the market this year.
We are currently endeavouring to buy back the German subsidiary of Gimaex International SAS, Gimaex GmbH in Wilnsdorf".

Should the acquisition of Gimaex GmbH fail, the new production location will not yet be determined. Whether it will be in Wilnsdorf, in the old production halls of the former SCHMITZ Feuerwehr- und Umwelttechnik GmbH, is still open. However, this would be obvious as the property is owned by the Schmitz family. This will be followed by further activities such as personnel recruitment, marketing conception, sales planning, etc.
